Lyrics from I Only Have Eyes for You: The Best of the "End" Years
All Music Guide Review
In between their first recordings for the small imprint Chance and several mid-'60s dates for the likes of Philips, Checker, and Polydor, the Flamingos hit it big with the End label from 1958-1961. Four albums and several singles produced their biggest hits, "I Only Have Eyes for You" and the Sam Cooke-penned "Nobody Loves Me Like You," as well as several low-profile standouts like "Lovers Never Say Goodbye" and "At Night." Sequel has collected these and many other solid cuts from the group's End heyday, giving Rhino's equally excellent roundup some serious competition (although the Rhino disc has a bit of advantage with its two Chance stunners, "Golden Teardrops" and "That's My Desire"). Still, this is certainly a worthwhile collection. ~ Stephen Cook, All Music Guide
