    All Music Guide Review

The second volume of Rhino's extensive collection of new wave hits is a step below the consistency of the first, but it's still a wonderful collection of 16 MTV hits and cult favorites from the early '80s. Like its immediate predecessor, this mixes futuristic art rock, stylish fun, and classicist pop, running the gamut from Ian Dury's ridiculous neo-disco pub rock "Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick" to M's robotic anthem "Pop Muzik," from Split Enz' eerie "I Got You" to Devo's tongue-in-cheek S & M anthem "Whip It," from the Kingbees' rock & roll "My Mistake" to the Boomtown Rats' somber "I Don't Like Mondays," and from the joyous masturbation anthem "Turning Japanese" to Joy Division's depressive anthem "Love Will Tear Us Apart." Yes, that makes for a little bit of whiplash listening, but they're all gems, as are the Motels' "Danger," Martha & the Muffins' "Echo Beach," and Ultravox' "Vienna," making this second volume of Just Can't Get Enough nearly as good as the first. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
