Sonny Stitt was in one of his prime periods during the early '70s and this LP finds him in particularly creative form. Best is the 14-minute "Miss Ann, Lisa, Sue and Sadie" which features Stitt, trumpeter Thad Jones, guitarist Billy Butler, and pianist Hank Jones soloing over a small string section; Jones' arrangement is quite memorable. Although the other four selections are not quite at the same level, Stitt is in top form throughout this inventive date. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
