Sounds of the Seventies: More AM Nuggets doesn't quite reach the fever pitch level of nostalgic joy that the first volume does, but it still has many pleasures. Like the first set, this disc isn't for fringe collectors, lovers of punk, new wave, funk, or other more worthy styles, or classic rock snobs. Instead it's for the people who spent their summer days glued to their transistor radios and their winter nights cuddled up under the blankets scanning the dial for just right song to take away the heartbreak of junior high. The kind of people who can admit to loving the smooth sounds of Stealer's Wheel ("Star") and the Captain & Tennille ("Love Will Keep Us Together"), the dancefloor dramatics of Carol Douglas ("Doctor's Orders") and the Spinners ("Mighty Love, Pt. 1"), the silly novelty tracks that littered the decade like Frank Mills' "Music Box Dancer" and the loping Latin rock sounds of Malo ("Sauvicito") and War ("Summertime") equally and truly. The beauty of '70s radio is that you could hear songs like those (and the rest that appear on the disc) back to back at any given time. There was certainly more of a sense of freedom and diversity in the play list (within some pretty strict confines admittedly), and this disc is fully tapped into that feeling.
