If you do get a hankering for that stuff, this compilation (which includes tracks that both were and were not included on the original Valley Girl soundtrack) is pretty representative...Bananarama, Culture Club, and Toni Basil are represented with their most popular cuts; Rachel Sweet and Bonnie Hayes are among the lesser-known exponents of the style; Little Girls and Gary Myrick are among the most unknown exponents of the style; and the Jam's "Town Called Malice" provides a much-needed blast of credibility. ~ Richie Unterberger, All Music Guide
