    All Music Guide Review

Released for the first time in 1994, these straightahead performances are the earliest live recordings by the Pete Jolly Trio. With either Ralph Pena or Chuck Berghofer on bass and drummer Nick Martinis playing on most of the selections, Jolly is in typically exuberant form on a variety of jazz standards including "Oleo," a lengthy "Falling in Love with Love," a humorous "Blues in the Closet" and even "Whistle While You Work." The one flaw to this set is that the noise from the crowd is occasionally distracting, making it advisable to acquire some of Pete Jolly's studio recordings first. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
