All Music Guide Review

At the height of their popularity, Royal Crescent Mob were recorded playing a boisterous live show in Cincinnati at Bogart's nightclub in April 1992. While there's plenty to admire, particularly a furious rap-rock cover of LL Cool J's "Mama Said Knock You Out," a funky rendition of "Time Bomb," and the burgeoning alt country sound of "Tundra," unfortunately the quality of this recording just doesn't do them justice. Suffering from lackluster audio mixing and the venue's acoustic limitations, 13 Destruction may seem like a distant hangover even for die-hard fans, and is certainly not recommended for the casual listener. Competing in the Midwest music boom and the grunge explosion of the early '90s, this self-produced live album sadly marked the beginning of the end for RC Mob, and after 1994's Good Lucky Killer, they called it quits. Bassist Harold "Happy" Chinchester switched to vocals and guitar and formed Howlin' Maggie, while drummer Carlton Smith landed in 24-7 Spyz. ~ Craig Curtice, All Music Guide
