    All Music Guide Review

Sony's Anxious 80s: New Wave Hits of the 80s collects 12 cuts of new wave/college rock mayhem from the early-'80s underground including Flash and the Pan's "Hey, St. Peter," Translator's "Everywhere That I'm Not," "Every Word Means No" by Let's Active, and the Rockpile classic "Heart." There are better collections out there, but any compilation from the era that trades the usual "big time" acts like Thomas Dolby, Men at Work, and Dexy's Midnight Runners (as good as they are) for below-the-radar heavies such as the Stranglers and Romeo Void is worth a spin or two. ~ James Christopher Monger, All Music Guide
