Only in the '80s 1 collects some of the decade's most memorable hits, like Scandal's "Goodbye to You" and the Go-Gos' "We Got the Beat," along with some more obscure singles like the similarly girlish "Johnny Are You Queer" by Josie Cotton. The Romantics' "What I Like About You," the J. Geils Band's "Freeze Frame," and Hall & Oates' "You Make My Dreams Come True" are some of the album's other highlights. The set concludes with Toni Basil's indelible cheerleader chant "Mickey" and Weird Al Yankovic's send-up "Ricky" -- a clever ending for an otherwise standard '80s compilation. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
