On this 1996 offering, Stampede, Chris LeDoux leaves a little of his traditional cowboy/country style behind to try something more contemporary sounding, but you'll still find the familiar resonance of the fiddle and steel guitar present. The title track, "Calico Moon," and "Take Me to the Rodeo" all offer some of the Western country feel fans are used to from LeDoux, but other numbers have a definite sprinkling of pop and rock flavor added to the mix. LeDoux brought some impressive help into the studio for this Capitol Nashville recording, including fiddler Larry Franklin and guitarist John Jorgensen. The result is well worth a listen, so don't let the new stylings keep you from giving this album a try. ~ Charlotte Dillon, All Music Guide
