    The only compilation that actually translates the transcendent feel of a disco club onto wax, Disco Boogie, Vol. 1 is quadruple-sided LP mix set featuring Salsoul classics mixed with help from Tom Moulton and Walter Gibbons, among others. Though it's a shame that individual mixes last under 20 minutes, the chunky beats and warm vibes of tracks by Claudja Barry, First Choice, Double Exposure, the Salsoul Orchestra and Loleatta Holloway make mainstream hits like Saturday Night Fever sound like soulless sellouts. After years of cult status among club fans, Disco Boogie was re-released as a double-CD set on The Right Stuff's line of old-school classics. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
