It is a pity that this session cut for Dutch Polydor was last available in the U.S. on an LP by the obselete Inner City label, for it features harmonica great Toots Thielemans in prime form. Accompanied by guitarist Wim Overgaauw, keyboardist Rob Franken, bassist Niels Pederson and drummer Bruno Castelucci, Thielemans performs a varied but consistently superior program that ranges from "Tenor Madness" and "Bye Bye Blackbird" to a couple of early Duke Ellington tunes ("The Mooche" and the rarely performed "Black Beauty"), Paul Simon's "I Do It for Your Love," Joanne Brackeen's "Images" and Kid Ory's "Muskrat Ramble." Well worth searching for. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
