All Music Guide Review

Oldies shows popped up like kudzu in the 1970s, and this document of the Jive Five comes from that time frame. The recording is blurry in spots, overpowered by a band playing a little too ham-fistedly in spots. Generally, however, this set works just fine, loaded with hits like "My True Story," "What Time Is It?," and "I'm a Happy Man," as well as crowd pleasers like the stomping "Hey Sam." Modern day doo wop albums seldom work, but this one does. ~ Cub Koda, All Music Guide
