Elétrico Brasil 2002 is one of several excellent Brazilian electronica albums released during the first years of the 21st century. By taking modern electronica and adding a magic touch of traditional Brazilian sounds and rhythms, the very talented DJ Mugomango (his real name is Artur Joly) has managed to put together 16 highly exciting and danceable tracks. It's all very good, but worth extra mentioning are the calm and beautiful "Je Suis un Lac et Tu Me Sec," with French lyrics sung by Joana Ceccato, the samba-inspired "Preta Menina," the cool beat of "Drum Vagum," and the exciting energy explosions of "Copa 70" and "Preferência Nacional." The production is very good, resulting in a colorful and elegant soundscape throughout the album. ~ Philip Jandovský, All Music Guide
