    All Music Guide Review

    Pass the Mic: Posse Album showcases 13 hip-hop tracks where a number of different rappers get a chance to rap. These are songs that sound like old block parties, where the microphone is passed to each rapper, who gets a chance to freestyle. Because of this, the album is a lyrical showcase, even though the rhythms themselves are quite good. It's not an essential album, but every cut is entertaining and some -- including Gang Starr's "Dwyck," De La Soul's "Buddy," EPMD's "Knick Knack Patty Wack," Fu-Schnickens' "La Schmoove," Big Daddy Kane's "Just Rhymin' with Biz" and Monie Love's "Ladies First" -- are excellent. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
