    The fourth volume of Slow Jams: The Timeless Collection is another batch of less than obvious R&B tunes from the '70s and '80s. Keeping with the series' theme of romantic steam, DJ Kevin James hand-picks another smart set of lush ballads, including the Isley Brothers' "At Your Best (You Are Love)," Alicia Myers' "If You Play Your Cards Right," Patti LaBelle's "Love, Need and Want You," the Dramatics' "Be My Girl," Anthony Watson's "Solid Love Affair," and Enchantment's "It's You That I Need." Only those who listened religiously to the right radio stations during the '70s and '80s will recognize everything here, but that's one of the charms of the series; James always comes up with a couple unexpected gems -- often deep album cuts. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
