Five female Southern soul artists tell it like it is, was, and is gonna be on a slew of salty love sagas. Jackie Moore cranks out eight of the 15 tracks, warming them with her golden alto and no-nonsense approach. Ann Sexton does only one track ("Loving You, Loving Me"), which is a shame since her distinctive, sexy soprano is an ice-breaker. Paulette Reeves smokes on four tracks, including "Jazz Freak," a song about her love of jazz music; it has a Southern feel, and it's also the only album track that's not about relationships. Reeves' jazzy, soulful rendition of "Your Good Thing Is About to End" is classy and well-done. Brandye contributes "One Woman's Trash Is Another Woman's Treasure," a song where the music and the lyrics don't equal the title. Ruby Wilson contributes "I'll Be Right Here (When You Return)" (with help from the Blue Chips) and "Man and a Baby Boy." ~ Andrew Hamilton, All Music Guide
