Gang Starr is the biggest name to be found on '80s/'90s hip-hop label Wild Pitch's roster, but they had to move to a bigger home to do their best work. Instead, look to a handful of singles -- Main Source's "Looking at the Front Door" and "Fakin the Funk" and UMC's "Blue Cheese" are good places to start -- for the real deal on this patchy compilation. Not quite rap classics, but still pretty representative of the era's indie scene. ~ Michael Gallucci, All Music Guide
