Compared to 1989's The Singular Adventures of Style Coucil, 20th Century Masters -- The Millennium Collection is concise and doesn't cater as much to the later and lesser part of the group's existence. That's where the advantages end. All the major highlights are included, such as "My Ever Changing Moods," "You're the Best Thing," "Walls Come Tumblin' Down," "Long Hot Summer," and "It Didn't Matter"; however, single edits often take the place of more desirable original mixes (single and radio edits are often a good indicator of a compilation's inferiority). Despite being less filler-prone, this disc is outshined by The Singular Adventures, which remains the best single-disc introduction to the group. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
