It's symptomatic of the perversity implicit in all of Will Oldham's work that he regularly assigns some of his most compelling efforts to castoff singles and other rarities that only the most diligent fan might track down. Case in point: "O How I Enjoy the Light," a limited edition, mailorder-only single reminiscent of the shimmering languor that graced the earlier "Gulf Shores"/"West Palm Beach" release. The song is a strikingly beautiful portrait of extremes -- its lyrics rank among Oldham's most opaque, its arrangement among his most complex and the complete performance among Palace's most nuanced. The B-side, "Marriage," is by comparison simple and direct, with a lovely melody bolstered by Oldham's unusually warm, sympathetic vocal. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide
