All Music Guide Review

Based on the concept of a "room" being Takako Minekawa's favorite place for creating music, Roomic Cube finds a place for everything. Co-written and produced with her friends in Buffalo Daughter, the album stretches her sound: while her more usual style of minimal, poignant songwriting shows up on tracks like "Sleep Song" and "Never/More," the tracks Buffalo Daughter collaborated on reflect the group's affection for busy arrangements and sound effects. This gives Roomic Cube a somewhat schizophrenic feel, but appealingly so. "Klaxon!" "Wooooog!" and "1.666666" in particular hint at Buffalo Daughter's penchant for noisy funk and rock. "T.T.T. (Turntable Tennis)" is a happy medium of the artists' styles, featuring hints of guitars, witty samples and sound effects on top of a ping-pong table rhythm. Though the album tends to run hot and cold, it ends up being just about right. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
