The Waitresses' 20th Century Masters -- The Millennium Collection gathers a dozen of the group's best-loved bratty new wave songs, including the classic single "I Know What Boys Like," the theme from the cult classic TV series Square Pegs, as well as "Bruiseology" and "Christmas Wrapping." While this collection isn't as complete as 1990's Best of the Waitresses, it does offer a good sampling of the band's knowing, edgy pop, as exemplified here by "No Guilt," "Thinking About Sex Again," and "Bread and Butter," all of which showcase Patty Donahue's snarky-but-sexy vocals and Chris Butler's witty guitar work and lyrics. While anyone unable to get their hands on Wasn't Tomorrow Wonderful? or Bruiseology would be better-served by Best of the Waitresses, 20th Century Masters -- The Millennium Collection should satisfy casual fans who just want the Waitresses' most popular songs. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
