Power Chords, Vol. 2

All Music Guide Review
As chaotic and themeless as the initial volume in this series may be (combining seminal mid-'60s classics with album filler and tracks that just plain don't fit the parameters or concept of this collection), the second volume hits the bullseye as its moves into the 1970s, prime territory for this type of rock bombast. Kicking off with the one-two punch of Queen's "Killer Queen" and Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Saturday Night Special," the hits just keep on coming. Counted up in the mix are Sweet's "Ballroom Blitz," Mountain's influential "Mississippi Queen," Bachman-Turner Overdrive's "Let It Ride," Bad Company's "Good Lovin' Gone Bad," the James Gang's "Funk #49," Joe Walsh's "Rocky Mountain Way," and Edgar Winter's "Frankenstein," classics in this genre by anyone's standards. Also included are great entries from Golden Earring (the long version of "Radar Love"), April Wine, Montrose, and UFO, making this a collection without a bum cut in the batch. If '70s power-chord rock is your thing, this is the one to pick up. ~ Cub Koda, All Music Guide
