    All Music Guide Review

The third volume in The Right Stuff's '70s Soul Jam series features performances from the Stylistics, the Dramatics, the Delfonics, Major Harris, and Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes. These performances took place in 2001, so the title is misleading. Thankfully, the label included live photos on the artwork, so it's not as if they're trying to pull a fast one on the buyer. As with the first two volumes, the vocal performances here are strong, but the instrumental backing is tinny and pushed into the background of the mix. Not only that, but the groups are down to only one or two original members. Those who witnessed this tour might like to have these discs as souvenirs. Apart from that, there's little appeal since the original studio versions trump these lesser -- if impassioned -- renditions. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
