Soft rock during the new jack era was overflowing to the brim with talent, and Al B. Sure! was one of several male vocalists leading the way for a short period of time. His confident delivery and smooth style made him to many a woman in the front row the second coming of Teddy or Luther -- and it all started the same way that this compilation starts, with his smash "Nite and Day." The rest of the CD works its way through the hits of his three releases, with a few minor songs that would be considered filler here and there, but that shouldn't deter those unfamiliar with his works from picking this up. On the whole it's a solid survey of a man whose recording career was far more short-lived than many of the ladies (and a few smooth-talkin' gentlemen) would have liked. ~ Rob Theakston, Rovi
