Lusty persona aside, Candye Kane is a tremendous vocalist with an impressive range. Her first release on Ruf Records in 2003 includes a version of "Something's Got a Hold on Me" that would make Etta James proud (unfortunately, the backing track doesn't match her intensity), while the title track, "Whole Lotta Love," sticks real close to Led Zeppelin's version without the extended guitar solo. Guest star Charlie Musselwhite contributes two tracks; "Put It All in There" features his harp virtuosity, and on "What's That Smell" he switches to acoustic guitar and vocals. All in all, this is a fun release suitable for any Saturday night get-together. ~ Al Campbell, All Music Guide
