    All Music Guide Review

Originally released on Sweden's Dot label in the closing months of the millennium, Lee Norris' more regular home, Hydrogen Dukebox, deemed MindMushingGit worthy of distribution outside of Scandinavia. Time has little detrimental effect on the work of Metamatics, whose efficient percussion and sun-dried atmospherics are some distance from the dancefloor environs more often occupied by techno. His increasingly ridiculous track titles -- "Vocoder Odour" is a favorite within this LP -- coupled with an ear for uplifting melodics are sure to find favor with supporters of early Aphex Twin, but Norris is far more than the sum of his influences, his fear of fours and sly synth work more an elaboration, rather than a contrived facsimile, of the familiar futurism favored by the Motor City innovators -- the ghosts of whom echo around the grooves of this superb record. ~ Kingsley Marshall, All Music Guide
