    All Music Guide Review

Just one in a cavalcade of Bob Hope releases around his 100th birthday, The Golden Age of Comedy compiles eight routines featuring Hope and frequent sparring partner Bing Crosby, most of them taken from radio shows. Rarely unscripted, though they often were played that way, many of these long clips find Hope and Crosby at their best, indulging in celebrity gossip and deftly parodying a few ripe old standards. (Just check out the one that includes "Heinie's and Moe's," their send-up of "Buttons and Bows.") Floating these routines with no reference or commentary, The Golden Age of Comedy certainly doesn't attempt to place these into the context of radio shows in general or Bob Hope's career specifically. They simply are what they are, a collection of broad, cutting (for the time) humor between two of radio's master comedian/entertainers. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
