David Carroll Galaxy compiles 14 tracks from 14 albums, bypassing Carroll's hit singles with the exception of his biggest, "Melody of Love" from 1955. All of the material is instrumental, and most is drawn from Carroll's series of dance albums (Let's Dance, Let's Dance Again, All the World Dances, etc.). Carroll's arrangements are always intriguing, particularly when he turns to popular material like "Tequila," which he transforms into a crazed lounge music concoction with weird sound effects and a chorus. "Let's Dance" combines a lazy, single-note electric guitar lead with a manic xylophone for another interesting contrast. David Carroll Galaxy isn't the best anthology imaginable, but provides a broad sampling of Carroll's music in one package. ~ Greg Adams, All Music Guide
