Compilations from Warner Dance are usually able to cast a wide net over nearly every field of music, and the immense Ibiza-themed box Ibiza: The History of Chillout is no different. Including over 50 tracks, the box may not always follow rigidly along with the classics that have defined younger Europeans' favorite clubbing vacation spot, but it does balance a parade of first-rank tracks with some intriguing change-ups. As for the classics, there are at least a dozen that have defined downbeat dance during the '90s and early 2000s: Lamb's "Gorecki," the Sabres of Paradise's "Smokebelch II," the Irresistible Force remix of Coldcut's "Autumn Leaves," "Lebanese Blonde" by Thievery Corporation, "Hayling" by FC Kahuna, Röyksopp's "Eple," Mono's "Life in Mono," and Nightmares on Wax's "Les Nuits." The curveballs are sensational as well, led by a rare Massive Attack remix of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, the Penguin Café Orchestra's ambient masterpiece "Music for a Found Harmonium," and a Kruder & Dorfmeister remix of Gregory Isaacs' "Night Nurse." ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
