Verve's Chet for Lovers compiles many of the iconic jazz trumpeter's most romantic sides recorded for such labels as Pacific Jazz and EmArcy during the '50s. While there are many more comprehensive collections detailing the career of the gifted yet troubled Baker, Verve does a nice job of focusing in on some lesser known cuts that spotlight the trumpeter's gifts for melody and lyricism. Included are such afterglow-ready tunes as "Easy Living," "Touch of Your Lips," and "Everything Happens to Me." This is a warm listen that perfectly sets its intended mood. ~ Matt Collar, Rovi
