Doc Martin

Being a name DJ has its advantages, but it also means there is pressure to show you're good at what you do. Doc Martin handily demonstrates just that with his second major mix album, Unlock Your Mind. Kicking things off with a fellow Moonshine mix-CD veteran, DJ Sneak, and his track, "Latin Sequel," the good doctor shows his chops handily on a set that typifies the blissful California house/techno sound of legend. With selections ranging from the thoroughly obscure to the more aboveground, including a few more leftfield numbers from overseas, Unlock is a good, entertaining affair, something that can easily substitute for a live DJ at a party if the person that was hired suddenly came down with the flu. The Doc's own DJ skills are perfectly evident, with seamless and creative blending throughout as one cut effortlessly takes things over from the other.
