100 Tears is Cleaopatra's Cure tribute album, featuring gothic/industrial reworkings of the veteran band's decidedly darker material. Highlights include Nosferatu's punched-up (and shortened) recasting of the doom classic "100 Years" and the Shroud's nearly note-perfect but inspired version of the stately, despairing "Sinking." Elsewhere, the songs are taken into more esoteric territory (Razed in Black's revved-up "Disintegration," Test Infection's deconstructed "A Night Like This"), but for the most part, many of these treatments -- which generally go for a "harder, faster" aesthetic -- simply lack the dark power of the original versions. Still, an entertaining set of performances, worth at least a curiosity spin or two for Cure fans. ~ Andy Hinds, All Music Guide
