It all depends on how you chill out, really. If your idea of relaxing Scottish music involves traditional airs on the bagpipe, then this is a chillout album. While the idea might seem hokey and geared at the tourist market, there is no denying the fact that the pipers are superb, and they can send a chill down the spine on "Flowers of the Forest." But the "Braveheart Trilogy" and "Theme From the Last of the Mohicans" is definitely going a bit over the top (Braveheart makes sense, but the Mohicans never made it to Glasgow, after all). It gets better with "The Skye Boat Song" or "Highland Cathedral," which have a history in the Scots tradition. But if you fancy having the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards or the Queen's Royal Pipers performing in your living room, this actually is a good album. ~ Chris Nickson, All Music Guide
