Pianist William Bolcom and soprano Joan Morris (a semi-opera singer) perform a variety of Eubie Blake compositions on this fairly straight but reasonably entertaining outing. In addition to the eight Bolcom-Morris duets, the pianist takes "Capricious Harlem" as an instrumental, Blake himself (93 at the time) steals the show with his solo renditions of "Eubie's Classical Rag" (a classic) and "Boogie Woogie Beguine," and also duets with Bolcom behind Morris on "Dixie Moon." Of particular significance is that this LP has the recording debut of Blake's "I'd Give a Dollar for a Dime," which Joe Williams would soon add to his repertoire. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
