Varese's The Very Best of Chuck Jackson is a 16-track retrospective of his classic Wand recordings, featuring all of his biggest hits ("I Don't Want to Cry," "I Wake Up Crying," "Any Day Now," "Tell Him I'm Not Home," and the Maxine Brown duet "Something You Got") and several fine, lesser-known singles. Jackson's work was remarkably consistent, and there are many fine songs that didn't make the cut, but The Very Best of Chuck Jackson is the best single-disc overview of his greatest music yet assembled. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
