    All Music Guide Review

American listeners might not recognize everything on 25 Years of Number 1 Hits, Vol. 10, but that's because the songs contained herein were British hits. This means that there are a number of fine, overlooked singles that didn't make many inroads on U.S. shores, plus about an equal number of items familiar on both sides of the Atlantic. Most of the pop hits here are influenced by urban R&B, hip-hop, and/or dance music; EMF's "Unbelievable" is as close to rock & roll as it gets. Some of the highlights and better-known items include PM Dawn's "Set Adrift on Memory Bliss," the Shamen's "Ebeneezer Goode," Shakespear's Sister's "Stay," Kris Kross' "Jump," Tasmin Archer's "Sleeping Satellite," Ini Kamoze's "Here Comes the Hotstepper," Culture Beat's "Mr. Vain," and Right Said Fred's "Deeply Dippy." Overall, it serves as a snapshot of England's mainstream-pop landscape in the pre-Brit-pop early '90s. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide
