This anthology of Ben Sidran's recordings for the Go Jazz label covers material from the 1980s and 1990s. It also places the great singer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist in collaboration with many peers, including bassist Eddie Gomez; guitarists Steve Khan, Steve Miller, and Phil Upchurch; drummers such as Clyde Stubblefield, Danny Gottlieb, and Peter Erskine; and saxophonist Phil Woods. While the material here isn't as startling as his late-'70s recordings were, they nonetheless contain plenty of Sidran's trademark vocal magic. The production is very modern, stylish, and smooth, and Sidran's as cool as ever. Recommended. ~ Thom Jurek, All Music Guide
