Classic Candi, Vol. 1 collects her first two albums for the label, Make Me an Instrument (1983) and The Anointing (1985), on one CD. The message is gospel but -- with the exception of a few tracks that include a full choir -- the music is pure deep Southern soul. ~ Wade Kergan, All Music Guide
