Metro's 2004 double-disc set Guitar Ballads rounds up 28 highlights from Hank Marvin's early-'90s recordings. Although this sometimes stretches the definition of ballads -- it's hard to call Queen's "We Are the Champions" a ballad, or Tears for Fears' "Everybody Wants to Rule the World," for that matter -- this is all easy listening that feels like ballads. If the music is a bit too crisp and cleanly produced, it nevertheless goes down nice and easy, and it showcases Marvin's still strong guitar work nicely. Overall, this is a good overview of his '90s work, functioning as both an introduction and summary to this phrase of his career. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
