    All Music Guide Review

The Water Music label could do themselves a big favor if they talked to their graphics department. As dull and commonplace as the cover is, the track selection on This Is Dance, Vol. 2 is superior to like compilations and someone even paid attention to the sequencing. Tunes range from filtered, mainstream house (Galleon's "So I Begin," Chew Fu Phat's "Rise Up") to campy anthems (Sarah Brightman's "It's a Beautiful Day," Soda Club's version of Belinda Carlisle's "Heaven Is a Place on Earth"). What really distinguishes the compilation is the amount of great remixes of established tunes like Roc Project's total overhaul of "You Promised Me" and Todd Terry's injection of soul into "Hold You." It may be older than anything else here, but Funkstar de Luxe's take on "Pull Up to the Bumper" is just icing on the cake. ~ David Jeffries, All Music Guide
