    All Music Guide Review

Like a lot of compilations out there that don't have a specific theme or common bond with all of the bands, it's either a hit or miss with a lot of the tracks. Standouts include Buzzov-En (grim, chaotic heavy metal a la Neurosis), Dogs on Ice, Jawbreaker, J-Church, Sleeper, Spoke (pop-punk at its finest), Seein' Red (angry political punk from Belgium), and Wat Tyler (goofball indie-pop from London). Unfortunately, despite the several hits found here, a majority of Music for the Proletariat deserves the "skip forward" button. ~ Mike DaRonco, All Music Guide
