    All Music Guide Review

As with the other editions of his Revisited series, Ben Bagley has cherry-picked lesser known songs from the catalog of Nöel Coward, the chief difference from his other collections being that, since so few of Coward's songs are well-known to Americans, some of the selections here are among the songwriter's most impressive efforts. Notably, "If Love Were All" is a Coward signature song, and the sarcastic "Don't Let's Be Beastly to the Germans" was the most memorable Coward lyric to emerge from World War II. Elsewhere, Bagley has made some delightful discoveries, among them "Green Carnations" and "He Never Did That to Me," amazingly risqué songs for the 1920s. The cast of singers is led by Laurence Harvey, doing a convincing Coward imitation, and a spirited Hermione Gingold. The CD reissue adds five songs. ~ William Ruhlmann, All Music Guide
