Though it's a drop-dead hoot to hear "Johnny B. Goode," "Louie Louie," and "Knock on Wood" as if they came straight from the Caribbean, this is not a novelty record; there is some fine music here and real reggae that stands on its own. Boy George doesn't hold up next to the genuine Jamaicans, although the Beat checks in with a cool, sped-up "Tears of a Clown." Mick Jagger acquits himself well in a duet with Peter Tosh. The Reggae Philharmonic Orchestra caps a fun, accessible album with a stirring version of "Minnie the Moocher," the Cab Calloway classic. ~ Mark Allan, All Music Guide
