Classical purists will shriek when they hear Schubert with a drum machine beat, but Classics Regrooved isn't totally without respect for the music, and sometimes it's pretty clever. Smartest of them all is Skylab 2000, who offer a playful Für Elise and a fun Hungarian Dance No. 5. Mojo Jones has his quirky way with Debussy's Arabesque, but too often it's just the melody you know with a slamming beat. The Mojo Jones and Skylab 2000 tracks tower over everything else, but that's more inspiration than you usually get on these types of collections. If you must be futuristic about your classical music, Classics Regrooved is as good as it gets until the next Wendy Carlos album comes around. ~ David Jeffries, All Music Guide
