Although it has a couple of rough spots, Yvette Michele's debut album My Dream is a good collection of contemporary, hip-hop-inflected R&B. Like Mary J. Blige, Michele emphasizes the harder-edged hip-hop rhythms more than most divas, and she has a wonderful voice. Unfortunately, she doesn't always have great material. Still, the best moments on My Dream proves that she could blossom into a powerhouse, given the right material. ~ Leo Stanley, All Music Guide
