    All Music Guide Review

3rd Stone's second label comp features work from old standbys like Spectrum, Experimental Audio Research, and State of Grace. It doles out another track from the sole A.R. Kane release attributed to the label ("Cool as Moons" from New Clear Child); offers Spacemen 3's cool, raggedy cover of the Troggs via MC5 jam "I Want You Right Now"; and threads out its midsection with rave-up punk revivalism from Goober Patrol and Vanilla Pod. By this point, 3rd Stone had diversified itself a little bit, and Taste of 3rd Stone Records reflects that, piecing out its playlist under various imprint umbrellas -- 3rd Stone for the dream pop and light electronica stuff, Them's Good for the scraggly punk, and the aptly named Space Age Recordings for the druggy astral haze of outfits like Octal (the incredible, scary "Stairs Leading Up, Pt. 2") or Matt Tow's Colorsound project. All in all, a great set; competitively priced, too, making it even more enticing for curious listeners. ~ Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide
