On their debut album, Monk & Canatella's limp-wristed take on bedsit trip-hop makes Portishead sound like N.W.A. Besides the evidence inherent in track titles such as "I Can Water My Plants" (not to mention the muso poetry therein) and "Fish," the shambling beats and occasional surprise tell the listener that this is dance music overly inspired by alternative rock of the 1980s. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
