Don't Call Me Ska Face is a fifty-song, triple-disc set that attempts to chronicle the evolution of ska, from its roots in Jamaica through the U.K. revival in the late '70s. There's certainly enough good ska music to fill three CDs, but Don't Call Me Ska Face isn't a definitive set, despite fine cuts from the likes of Desmond Dekker, Bob Marley, Gregory Issacs, Bunny Wailer, Special Beat and Selecter. The problem is, not all of the '60s cuts are ska, and not all of the important ska revival bands are featured. There's enough good music to make much of the set enjoyable, but curious listeners are advised to look to other sets for a comprehensive introduction to the genre. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
