All Music Guide Review
This two-fer from Beat Goes On features a pair of out-of-print Jan & Dean Liberty LP's: Ride the Wild Surf and Folk 'n Roll originally released in 1964 and 1965, respectively. Among the 24 tracks are the hits "Ride the Wild Surf," "Sidewalk Surfin'," "She's My Summer Girl" and "Tell 'Em I'm Surfin'," the extraordinary silly "The Submarine Races," and genuine attempts at folk-rock on "Where Were You When I Needed You," "It Ain't Me Babe," and "Turn, Turn, Turn." This is an enjoyable, fun reissue recommended to both collectors and casual listeners. ~ Al Campbell, All Music Guide
